MONEY WHERE MOUTH IS (PART 1)
It was the first time I’d ever won anything. What I won was a Bursary for 5000 Euro. Wow! Amazing! I was thrilled. It was awarded by Age and Opportunity, the organisation which encourages older people to fling off their slippers, their cardies and their Werther’s Originals and engage with life. They took photos, they sent out press releases, they sent reporters to interview me. I felt quite the media star.
I know… embarassing… but you know what the press is like!
Then it suddenly dawned on me… now I have to put my money where my mouth is. You see, at the interview I’d told them about E.N.T. for Zambia and the work I’d done with them there. I told them about my blog, I brought along photos. I said that, if I won the Bursary, I’d use it to buy equipment to train Zambians to test hearing. The entire interview panel sat there beaming at me. They said that they had other very interesting people to interview. But they were definitely beaming. i went home and forgot all about it till the phone call came. Now reality was knock, knock, knocking on my door…and banging very loud at that.
To be continued…..
It’s impressive that you are getting ideas from this post as well as ftom our argument made at this time.
