ANOTHER NEW YEAR – ANOTHER NEW RESOLUTION

New Year Resolutions are like soap bubbles, colourful and shiny at first…   and then they go pfft.

I gave up on them years ago.   Except for one.   Here it is.

I resolve to enjoy myself.

It sounds easy but it isn’t.   Especially when you get a flat tyre and it’s pouring rain.   Or the fire alarm goes off because you forgot  to take the bread out of the oven.   Or you have three children crying for attention and the door bell rings and it’s your nosey neighbour.   I could go on but you can fill in the scenarios for yourself.   That’s when my new resolution goes pfft.   It’s been going pfft a lot lately and it’s still early January.

But I think it’s worth starting again and persisting.    ‘Cause I do love a drama … they make the best stories… I find it ridiculously easy to turn a difficulty into a tragedy.   Great for the writing  bad for the spirit.   So I have to keep reminding myself that  it is myself that I have to enjoy.

Another New Year another new resolution… how about another new day another new resolution… or even another new minute!

Absolutely correct. Resolutions should be made as we go through life, not good intentions on one day of the year.
