WHAT IS IT WITH BISHOPS AND BABIES?

THE MEN IN SCARLET

So the bishops are rarin’ up once again and telling us all what to think about abortion and warning of the dire consequences of our paltry new legislation. Well fair enough, everyone’s entitled to  an opinion.

If you want to base your MORAL choices on the opinions of a group of (theoretically) celibate men representing a church with:
NO experience of the joys, sorrows and dangers of pregnancy.
NO experience of the joys, sorrows and dangers of birth.
NO experience of the joys sorrows and difficulties of caring for children.
NO experience of the joys sorrows and difficulties of intimate relationships.
A PROVEN track record in child abuse.
A PROVEN track record in diminsihing and absolving the crimes of child abusers.
A PROVEN track record in covering up child abuse.
Well that’s your choice… good luck.

If you want to base your MEDICAL choices on the same bunch of men who have ZERO medical expertise …. ouch! Your choice…  and the very best of luck. Just be aware that  you ARE putting yourself in danger.

As for the legislators of Ireland. When are you going to realise that:
Women ARE full-grown adults.
Women DO have brains as well as wombs.
Women CAN make decisions.
Women CAN make moral choices.
We do NOT need legislation to tell us what to do.

Personally speaking… I make my medical decisions in consultation with my doctor and my moral decisions in consultation with my conscience. Is it too much to ask you to  recognise us as adults and allow us the freedom to behave as adults?
