WHAT ARE THEY AT?

What are they at, those women who whinge and whinge and whinge about men every time they’re let out? You hear it every day on radio and tv. It drives me to distraction. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m a feminist, the daughter of a feminist and the granddaughter of a Suffragette. I’ve done my bit for the cause but when I hear women talking as though all men were idiot three year olds, I just want to spit.

Equality is equality irrespective of sex. In the past men treated women and spoke about them as though they were silly children. Women objected and, by now, many men have learned the lesson and things have improved for many of us , at least in first world countries. But now that women have a voice, they are doing to men exactly what men did to us. And smile and agree.
Just to remind you, not all men are idiots. Michelangelo could daub a few colours, Mozart came up with the odd tune, Seamus Heaney can scribble a bit, Nelson Mandela isn’t a bad bloke!

I sometimes wonder what the effect of all this public putting down of men has on our sons. All they hear every time they turn on the radio or T.V ore open a newspaper is that men are eejits, irresponsible, infantile and incapable of the simplest household task. Is that the best message for them?

And before you all get into a heap yes, I know that there is still a glass ceiling. Yes I know that there are women all over the world who are treated abominably. And Yes, I know there is a lot more to be done before we have gender equality everywhere all the time. But that’s not the issue. Constant whingeing about men not putting down the toilet seats won’t change the imbalance!
If we really believe in equality. If we really want to be treated equality, we too have to give equality, we have to treat men they way we demand that they treat us.
